The new Landmark of Silicon Valley - Silicon Peaks, two mountains like structures that emerge as a continuation of the existing landscape and make a visual connection between the two riversides. The new landmark is meant to enhance the outdoor and indoor activities thus creating a meaningful place for the most people. The two peaks are to be connected by a cable car system that is to provide a great view towards the park and surroundings. The new landmark project is to showcase onsite generation of renewable energy through solar and wind power.
The idea behind the design is a new type of Landmark that is to disrupt the status quo of a valley - two mountain like structures that emerge as a continuation of the existing landscape – Silicon Peaks, thus blending in natural and built environment.
The name of the project itself is to represent the outstanding achievements (‘peaks’) reached so far by Silicon Valley. The two similar structures are to make a visual connection between the two riversides and define the entire landmark. The peaks are to inspire for greater achievements and showcase the progress of humanity in pace with nature and lately human preservation.
The design means to create a place full of diverse outdoor activities such as hiking, running, all-terrain biking, rafting, climbing, jogging, mini-golf, zip-line sliding activities that otherwise could not happen in a city park. The “peak” tops are to become viewing spots for visitors to fully enjoy San Jose panorama, the park and the confluence of the rivers. The project is providing enough eco-friendly areas for kid’s playgrounds, recreational, leisure, and sport activities, thus creating a meaningful place for most inhabitants and guests.
The proposal envisions some indoor spaces for cafes and restaurants, while also providing enough interior spaces for indoor recreational activities. The two peaks are to be connected by a cable car system a transport mode that is to provide a great view towards the surroundings and thus become a local attraction. More than that, the car cable system could become a starting point for expanding the system throughout the city of San Jose. The cable system could also incorporate a water vaporization system that is to replicate the phenomenon of rainbow appearance while also refreshing the park.
It is intended to have a sustainable approach and preserve most of the trees on the ground level inside the future interior spaces, while also planting greenery and trees at different heights, both inside and outside the “peaks”, thus enhancing the natural environment. The new landmark project is to showcase onsite generation of renewable energy through solar and wind power.
The Silicon Peaks is to mark all its visitors though all the senses thus generating an unforgettable experience for all.
